Richtige Freunde hat er wenig, eher eine Clique von weiteren Außenseitern mit denen er sich abgibt. Außerdem ist er ein sehr emotionaler Junge. Er verkörpert genau das, was man einen Nerd nennen würde: Klein, zierlich, trägt eine Brille, schüchtern, brav, gut in der Schule, schlecht in Sport. Wir befinden uns Anfang der 1980er Jahre. In the end, however, they must decide whether to be true to their identities or return to the previously held conformity of their comfortable stereotypes. Tragedies befall the ill-suited young couple, and the losses they endure are unthinkable. Their budding friendship helps bring Jeff out of his shell and reveals a much deeper side of the dumb jock.
